I have a dream

As we sometimes forget about the freedom that mankind posses as the world enriches us with different events that state by the universal language that we all belong here and we are all equal, we remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on this very special day.  Leaving a legacy to be remembered by is one thing, but changing the whole world by a strong statement is another thing that shall always keep on motivating me to seek for change.  What if he didn't stand up and speak with an unbelievable courage that many people lacked many years ago?  Then I honestly don't know where we could stand in this present, because his act changed the path of the nations of the world.

"I have a dream." What a powerful sentence to speak when many people needed to remember that they had the right to dream.  As I stood today in front of North Carolina's Triple Waterfalls and listened to the peaceful sound of the water, the nature itself reminded me that I can dream. I can dream of anything, because the power of my imagination can turn into reality. And by that reality, I'll wish to have the same courage as MLK to speak up, and change. The soft breeze, and the clear water were proofs that mankind is equal, because this world was created for all of us to live in harmony and peace. Exactly like how the strong black rocks would allow the light clear water to drift on them with amity.

I lived in the moment, and smiled when I remembered the first time I read his speech. "I have a dream!" I yelled in my heart. I wanted to let myself know that I'm free, I can dream, accomplish, succeed, and achieve. Because the change that I'll make will influence my generation to rise above hate, and live equally.

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?" Let's all believe in ourselves, and remember that equality isn't a metaphor of kindness, it's a factor of living.  Love, dream, and remember to be inspired, so you can accomplish, and then you will be remembered for your acts.

Hoping before McDowell's School Board

Not every exchange experience is the same, simply because every student is different, and every place is different too. Comparing an experience to another is a huge mistake, yet looking at each one individually triggers curiosity to those who are not part of it to know more.  Not every day is rainbows and sunshine, but surly not every other day is clouds and rain. One bad day shall never ruin a year long experience, and one good day will create memories that will spring in the happiness of many other days to come.     My day today was one of a kind. A day that shall keep me motivated for a good period of time. It's a day that I can smile at and tell myself that I actually invested my time in the project of my successful ways of living. I'll never be the wise person who advises people with powerful talks.  I'll never be the big boss who's in charge. Instead, or at least for now, I am going to live for the present and do my best in influencing a change in this communit...

The Superintendent and the Gift

The time of starting to wrap up my exchange year came with the idea of wrapping a gift for the superintendent of McDowell County Schools. I figured that one whole year that brought to my life the bitter and the sweet deserves to be finished properly. It's like being on a long vacation and buying souvenirs to be taken home with me. But, the reality of living each day knowing that you are going to a place to reflect a certain message is much greater than the thought of being at the beach and knowing that you have to reflect an image of a good tan and outfit.   Back to my main idea, the gift! Mr. Mark Garrett is the superintendent of McDowell County Schools. He has been supporting me ever since I met him. He has a personality that attracts anyone to talk with him. He made me realize that a great leader is a humble and caring person. He showed great consideration to anything I had to say, and this really is an important thing for me. When a leader listens to the young and ol...

Two Days With Dad يومان مع والدي

*This blog post was written only two days before my dear father's accident -may he rests in peace-. *هذا المقال كُتب يومان فقط قبل وفاة والدي الحبيب رحمه الله  Tears may express both happiness and sadness. A shaking voice can describe either fear or sorrow. A shivering body can describe all of the mentioned above. But what if, only if at one point in life, all of these emotions combine together to crash the human's body? What if our emotions can break our hearts in a second, then build them back again in the next? Goodbyes are meant to happen to everyone. As I grow up, I realize how hard they can be depending on whom I'm saying goodbye to....
